Horse Round Up

In North Iceland the ancient tradition of rounding up horses lives on. After having spent the summer in green pastures in the highland the horses go back home. Hundreds of riders and thousands of spectators watch the horses coming down from the highland to Laufskálarétt corral. Once in the corral the horses have to be sorted so that each will be returned to its rightful owner. Horse round up is always a popular attraction for people visiting North West Iceland and it was a great day in Laufskálarétt corral last Saturday where over 3000 guests watched the farmers and their helpers at work.
Great weather, good horses and fantastic atmosphere. It sounds like a fantastic adventure in North West Iceland.
