As a long-time lover of scenic landscapes and wellbeing, Auður decided one day to combine both by offering her guests a relaxing floating experience in the unique scenery of Hofsós swimming pool.
In which area of Skagafjördur do you live?
We live on a farm called Grindur located in the eastern part of Skagafjörður, in the Deildardalur valley, just above Hofsós.
What are you doing for a living ?
Me and my husband are both working at the swimming pool in Hofsós but Rúnar is also a farmer where we live. He has a training center for Icelandic horses and we have 120 sheep.
I have been working as a hairdresser but I am now concentrating on my project Infinity Blue.
The Hofsós swimming pool has always been a source of inspiration for me, with views calling for serenity and inner peace. I wanted to offer an activity where wellbeing and relaxation are the only things that matter! Guests are invited to try out our floating equipment, lay back in the water… and enjoy. Floating puts you in a state normally reached with deep meditation and its effects on the body and the mind are countless! Opening on 1st of August!
How do you spend your free time in Wintertime and Summertime, and which season do you prefer?
Both seasons are special in their own way.
Summer is keeping us busy at the farm, with lambing season, hay harvest and autumn work to be done before winter. Summer nights are wonderful to experience, and Skagafjörður is the perfect place to observe the Midnight Sun, making it difficult to go to bed early! The weather conditions are gentle and ideal for horseback riding or walks.
The Skagafjörður bay has always been a source of inspiration for us and we could not think of a better environment for Infinity Blue. This view over Málmey calls for serenity and inner peace, just like every endless summer days… #iceland #northiceland #skagafjörður #visitskagafjordur #floating #floatingtherapy #wellbeing #mindfulness #relaxation #zen #yoga #midnightsun #inspiredbyiceland #everydayiceland #igersiceland #wheniniceland #whyiceland #infinitypool #feelgood #innerpeace #reflection #sunset #infinityhofsos
The Winter darkness has something fascinating as well, offering stunning starry skies and northern lights. This is when you truly appreciate the stillness of the countryside. We also enjoy cosy evenings, with TV show and candlelights, after a fun day in the snow.
What makes Skagafjördur so unique for you ?
We were both raised in Skagafjörður so it’s our home, all of our family is here and we think it’s the best place for us and our daughters. Kindergarden and school are small and everyone knows everyone, we are a small community with a friendly atmosphere. We have friends here in the area of our age and with kids of the same age as ours.
We have lived East of Skagafjörður since 2007 and now Drangey island is on the right side of the fjord, as we do want to see it. We are very happy here!
What is your most memorable moment here?
Our beautiful wedding under a blue sky in front of Bænhúsið í Gröf (Grafarkirkja): it was amazing.
